     At an early age, Beth displayed talent for both art and music but she choose to concentrate on classical piano because of the outstanding teacher in her small Indiana town. Beth continued her musical studies at the prestigious Indiana University School of Music where she earned a Master of Music degree. For many years, she enjoyed a successful career in New York City and Long Island as a performer and teacher and then as director / co-owner of a large private music school. After retiring and moving to Florida, her keen interest in art and architecture reemerged and she resolved to learn to paint.
     Beth approached her art studies with a philosophy and perspective that applied to her music: study with good teachers and practice often. Her painting goals have evolved over the years but a constant has been a striving to master technical skills. In art and music, the key to freedom of expression is solid technical knowledge coupled with skill and dedication.
     Beth is inspired by the paintings of Dutch artist Jan Vermeer whose work is admired for purity of light and form. She is most comfortable with realistic subjects and through her use of light and form, she hopes to trigger an emotional connection with viewers.
     During her brief time as a visual artist, Beth has entered many juried/judged exhibits, and won several awards for her paintings and photographs.
